On 16 July 1960, after take-off from Copenhagen Airport at 15.38 local time, a de Havilland Dragon Rapide plane (registration OY-DZY) chartered from Zonens Redningskorps by the Danish Football Association crashed into the Øresund, about 50 metres from shore, after the pilot lost control of the aircraft in severe weather.
It provide a range of services, including operating regularly scheduled flights from Copenhagen Airport, Roskilde (ICAO: EKRK) to the Danish islands of Anholt and Læsø; managing the airfield on Anholt, and is also a major air taxi operator in Denmark, operating from EKRK.
Lufthavnen (‘Airport’) metro station is located slightly further off than the railway station, at the far end of Terminal 3 on the level 2.
The railway line continues from the Continental Line south of Malmö and heads west passing over the Oresund Bridge on the lower section, Peberholm artificial island and under Copenhagen Airport to Copenhagen Central Station.
