Since the 1990s it has been proposed that Cranbourne East railway station would be built adjacent to the complex, on a short extension from the current Cranbourne terminus of the former South Gippsland railway line.
Cranbourne is located on Station Street and between the Camms Road and South Gippsland Highway level crossings, with station access from Station Street and South Gippsland Highway.
The station is now part of the South Gippsland Tourist railway, after passenger operations on the line ceased after Cranbourne station in 1993.
