In the early 70's, Algester Road and Dalmeny Street were connected as non sealed roads and the only thoroughfare into the suburb, which was then still virgin bushland.
The most notable earl was Archibald Primrose, 5th Earl of Rosebery, who served as Prime Minister from 1894 to 1895.

Apart from its parish church, the most significant building is the 19th-century Dalmeny House, to the east of the village, which is the home of the Earls of Rosebery.

The seat of the Chief of Clan Primrose is still at Dalmeny House in Dalmeny on the Firth of Forth in Scotland.
