During the daytime, the trimulcast simulcasts WCPT programming from 5 AM - 9 PM, and operates a Dance Hits format at night known as Dance Factory FM.
Furthermore, they are well known for their remixing skills which can be heard on productions by Chicane, Delerium, Vengaboys, Tiësto, Scooter, Boy George a.o. They have proven that they are also capable of creating commercial dance hits, after finishing a single for Alice DeeJay.
K224CJ was previously the 92.7 signal for Energy 92.7 & 101.1, which was a Dance Hits station, on air from 2002-2008, and one of 3 similarly branded stations in the country (the others being KNGY Energy 92.7 FM in San Francisco, California and WKIE/WKIF/WDEK Energy 92.7 & 5 in Chicago, Illinois) all of which are now defunct.
In 2003 Jordan with Creamer & K created the indie house music label NY Love Records, which produced a string of dance hits, most notably Rosko's 2005 anthem "Love Is A Drug" which went to #1 on the U.S. Billboard Dance Chart, and "Last Night I Was Dreaming" which rose to #2 on European Dance Radio.
The new trimulcast became a variety hits format as Nine FM, and the station later became a split-format station with Nine FM during the day and Dance Hits format Dance Factory at night.
The song also contains samples of "Loaded" by Primal Scream and "Fool's Gold" by The Stone Roses, two songs that had been recent pop and dance hits in the UK.
As mentioned above, WKST's musical direction had always favored Rhythmic and/or Dance hits since its 2000 debut, although at times it will add artists like The Lumineers to stay within the Mainstream realm.
