After the group performed some live dates back in the U.S. with bandleader Jimmy Lunceford and his orchestra in mid-1940, Dorothy broke from the group to pursue film and stage work (appearing in her first credited role in Four Shall Die later that year), marking the end of the Dandridge Sisters.
