Daniel Cajanus

Later he took up residence in Amsterdam, where he lived from 1735 to 1741 as the guest of the landlord of the Blauw Jan, an inn where natural curiosities could be seen and traded.

In 1745 Cajanus settled in Haarlem, Netherlands, where he bought the right to live in the Proveniershuis, a sheltered housing unit that provided him with accommodation, meals and medical care.

Proveniershuis

The most famous men who stayed in the Proveniershuis in the 18th century were Daniel Cajanus, the "Wonderful giant" Finn who was said to be eight feet high, and Pieter Langendijk, the Dutch historian.

In 1739 the couple moved to Haarlem where they rented rooms in the proveniershuis there, where the well-known Haarlem playwright Pieter Langendijk, and the Finnish giant Daniel Cajanus also lived.
