Radio Killa Records

In 2008, the then-Executive Vice President of Def Jam Recordings Shakir Stewart, organized a meeting for Electrik Red with The-Dream and Tricky Stewart, who cosigned Electrik Red to Radio Killa.

The label operates as an imprint of, and is distributed through, Def Jam Recordings.

The-Dream signed a deal with Def Jam Recordings in 2007, following the success of Rihanna's 2007 hit "Umbrella", which he wrote and produced with production partner Christopher "Tricky" Stewart.

Based on a T.R.U. Story is the debut studio album by American rapper 2 Chainz, released through Def Jam Recordings (Universal Music Group) on August 14, 2012 in the United States.

Def Jam's How to Be a Player

The How to Be a Player Soundtrack, released by Def Jam Recordings on August 5, 1997, featured the hit single "Big Bad Mama" by Foxy Brown featuring Dru Hill.

Fever Records

The label was marketed and distributed by Sutra Records until the latter went under, which precipitated a distribution deal with Russel Simmons's RAL division of Def Jam Recordings.

Hal Linton

In October 2008 news broke in the small Caribbean island of Barbados that Hal Linton inked a million dollar deal with major record label Universal Motown, following in the footsteps of other Barbadian international recording artist Rihanna (Def Jam Recordings), Shontelle (Universal Motown), Livvi Franc (Jive Records) and Rupee (Atlantic).

Junk Yard Band

The band was often seen performing for tourists on the streets of Washington, D.C. This popularity led to appearances in a 1984 Cavalier Men's Store television advertisement, the 1983 film D.C. Cab and the 1988 film Tougher Than Leather with Run-D.M.C. It was this interaction with Run-D.M.C.'s DJ Run that led to an eventual recording contract with older brother Russell Simmons' Def Jam Recordings.

Rush Communications

In 1983, Simmons formed Def Jam Recordings along with Rush Artist Management, the core of Rush, which launched the careers of artists such as the Beastie Boys, LL Cool J, Public Enemy, Run-DMC and Whodini.

Scarlett Belle

Formed in 2007, Scarlett Belle signed a recording contract with US record label Def Jam Recordings, and consisted of Jaber, Derry and Hayley Aitken.
