3 unusual facts about Demographics of Finland

Demographics of Finland

About 90 percent of Finland's 4,400 Sami lived in the municipalities of Enontekiö, Inari, and Utsjoki, and in the reindeer herding-area of Sodankylä.

The geographical center of population (Weber point) of the Finnish population is currently located in Hauho, in the village of Sappee, now part of the town of Hämeenlinna.

A significant catalyst was the right of return, based on President Koivisto's initiative that people of Ingrian ancestry would be allowed to immigrate to Finland.

Michael C. FitzGerald

Although known principally as a scholar on Pablo Picasso, FitzGerald's interests have varied into the role of photography in preserving the record of art history, as in his 2009 March 13 article in the Wall Street Journal on 19th century Finnish-Swedish scientist Gustaf Nordenskiöld's work with the cliff dwellings of Mesa Verde, Colorado.
