John Derek Jarrett (18 March 1928 – 28 March 2004) was an English schoolteacher, historian, and writer.
•
Jarrett taught at Sherborne School in Dorset until the mid-1960s, then at Goldsmith’s College of the University of London for the remainder of his academic career.
•
He is best known for his edition of Horace Walpole’s Memoirs of the Reign of King George III, and perhaps for his sometimes acerbic reviews in the New York Review of Books.
