City Tower, Manchester

The tower is one of Manchester's main broadcast transmission sites, hosting the antennas of local radio stations XFM, Rock Radio, Capital on FM and digital radio multiplexes Digital One, BBC, MXR North West and CE Manchester.

Digital One

The "Classic Gold Rock" service eventually went on air as Planet Rock, which remains on air and is now the longest-established digital-only service on the platform.

On 11 February 2008 GCap announced that it was selling its interest in Digital One to Arqiva and that "non-core" DAB stations Planet Rock and theJazz would be closing by the end of March 2008.


BBC Newcastle

The Fenham transmitter, for west Newcastle and Gateshead situated close to the studios on Barrack Road, also broadcasts television, national radio, BBC National DAB, Digital One, the MXR North East 12C multiplex, 100-102 Real Radio on 96.2, Metro Radio on 103 and Capital North East on 105.6.

Chillerton Down transmitting station

It now transmits Wave 105, 103.2 Capital FM, Jack FM, Isle of Wight Radio, the local Arqiva (NOW S. Hampshire) DAB multiplex and the national Digital One DAB multiplex.
