After a second visit to Europe, in 1928 Roy settled at the Ashram of Sri Aurobindo in Pondicherry.

Inviting Roy through the International Peace and Freedom Society, Romain Rolland arranged for him a seminar on Indian classical music in Lugano, and had his lectures translated and published in French.

In 1922, she met Dilipkumar Roy in the Gaya session of the Indian National Congress and was deeply influenced by his musical style, though she retained a distinct way of her own.
