The minivan platform has evolved through five generations, from the original S platform forming the basis of the Dodge Caravan, Plymouth Voyager (discontinued) and Chrysler Town & Country — to the current RT and RM platforms, which underpin the current Dodge Grand Caravan, Chrysler Town & Country, Chrysler Grand Voyager, Ram C/V, and Volkswagen Routan.
These provided parts for the many Chrysler vehicles, including in recent years the Dodge Grand Caravan, Chrysler Town & Country, Jeep Grand Cherokee and Ram Trucks.
Windsor Assembly started assembling the new Volkswagen Routan (RM) on the same platform as the Dodge Grand Caravan and Chrysler Town & Country models in August 2008.
