Doxa entered the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup for the first time in 2009, and narrowly missed out on qualifying for the tournament proper at the first attempt, finishing second to National Premier Soccer League side Sonoma County Sol on goal difference.
After a brief stint with LA-based amateur side Doxa Italia, Tudela travelled to Romania for a trial with former European champions Steaua Bucharest in January 2010.
He found himself without a club when the Thunder folded at the end of the 2009 USL-1 season; after a brief stint with LA-based amateur team Doxa Italia, he joined Ventura County Fusion of the USL Premier Development League for the 2010 season, before moving on to play for the Hollywood United Hitmen in the National Premier Soccer League in 2011.
