The Dr. Martin Luther King Multicultural Institute is an elementary school located in the East Side of Buffalo, New York.

Also an activist for equality and educational opportunities for all, she hosted such dignitaries as Langston Hughes, Marian Anderson, George Washington Carver, Thurgood Marshall, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., James Weldon Johnson, and W. E. B. Du Bois.
It was named after Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in recognition of the fact that the eastern portion of the route serves many predominantly African-American neighborhoods, such as Wilkinsburg and East Liberty.
They included Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Rosa Parks (who studied with Horton shortly before her decision to keep her seat on the Montgomery, Alabama bus in 1955), John Lewis, James Bevel, Bernard Lafayette, Ralph Abernathy, John B. Thompson, and many others.
