However Labillardière convinced d'Entrecasteaux to search for another day, and was rewarded not only with the recovery of Riche, but also with the collection of several highly significant botanical specimens, including the first specimens of Anigozanthos (Kangaroo Paw), Nuytsia floribunda (West Australian Christmas Tree), Banksia nivea (Honeypot Dryandra) and B. repens.
The flora is very rich with a high diversity of Eucalyptus, Dryandra and Banksia species.

The Swan coastal plain is a particularly important centre for certain types of plant including banksia but also Caladenia orchids and Leucopogon shrubs, indeed some genera, such as the Dryandra series of banksia and the Synaphea flowers are found nowhere else in the world.
The park is considered a representative sample of flora of the area, although includes some unusual plants - including a species of Daviesia notable for its large red flowers, which is known only from the reserve, and Shaggy Dryandra (Banksia splendida) which is common on some lateritic rises.
