It was destroyed by fire in the early 1960s and the land was bought by Ford Motor Company as part of the site of their Dunton Technical Centre.

In 1967 the Ford Motor Company opened the Dunton Technical Centre on former agricultural land at the north end of Dunton.

During the 1930s it was owned by the parents of historian David Irving.
He returned to UK in 1998 to assume the post of assistant director of design of small and medium Ford vehicles at Dunton Wayletts, Essex.
