It was destroyed by fire in the early 1960s and the land was bought by Ford Motor Company as part of the site of their Dunton Technical Centre.

In 1967 the Ford Motor Company opened the Dunton Technical Centre on former agricultural land at the north end of Dunton.
Ford currently produces a 1.0-litre turbocharged In-Line three cylinder engine for the EcoBoost family developed at Ford's Dunton Technical Centre in the UK.
