There are many Eastern Imperial Eagle nests in the Bulgaria/Turkey section of the European Green Belt (the uncultivated belt along the former Iron Curtain.)

Young birds at the nest are sometimes preyed on by Imperial, Steppe and Greater Spotted Eagles.
Ferruginous duck (Aythya nyroca), Pallid Harrier (Circus macrourus), Greater Spotted Eagle (Aquila clanga), Eastern Imperial Eagle (Aquila heliaca) and Lapwing (Vanellus gregarius) are some of the birds which are of conservation concern, according to the 2008 IUCN Red List.
The region is home to Eurasian wildlife such as the Eurasian Sparrowhawk, Golden Eagle, Eastern Imperial Eagle, Lesser Spotted Eagle, Caucasian Black Grouse, Red-fronted Serin, and Wallcreeper.
