Its prefecture was in Lleida and its subprefectures were Tortosa, Cervera and Tarragona and its only prefect was Alban de Villeneuve-Bargemont, who had previously been auditor to the Council of State and sub prefect of Zierickzée (a subprefecture of the department of Bouches-de-l'Escaut).

It incorporated Catalan territories of the Ebre basin and the municipalities of Fraga and Mequinenza.

As of October 2008, whereas the final boundaries of the new vegueries have yet to be formally approved, they are expected to incorporate largely historical boundaries: Àmbit metropolità de Barcelona, Alt Pirineu i Aran, Camp de Tarragona, Comarques Centrals, Comarques Gironines, Ponent or Lleida, Terres de l'Ebre.
(Other dialectal forms do exist, among them characteristic forms of minor extreme dialects like Ribagorçan or Algherese, or transitional forms between major dialects, like the ones used in the lower Ebre basin area around Tortosa or in the Empordà).
The municipality occupies much of the northern half of the Ebre delta, on the left bank of the river.
She cowrote PHN: la raó d’Estat contra l’Ebre i la Terra (PHN: State reason against the Ebre and the Land) in 2003.
She is patron saint of the Santa Madrona church in Barcelona, the Santa Madrona hermitage in the mountain of Montjuïc, as well as churches in the villages of Madrona (Pinell de Solsonès) and Móra d'Ebre.
