The organization began with energy projects in California and Oregon and through the support of various social innovation competitions including the Echoing Green Fellowship, the Stanford StartX Fellowship, the Stanford Social Innovation Fellowship, and others.
City Hall Fellows is a project of Community Partners and is also supported by several private foundations, including Echoing Green and The Annenberg Foundation; city governments including the City and County of San Francisco; community-minded corporations including CH2M Hill and ZipCar.
Organizations such as Ashoka: Innovators for the Public, the Skoll Foundation, the Omidyar Network, the Schwab Foundation for Social Entrepreneurship, Athgo, New Profit Inc., National Social Entrepreneurship Forum, and Echoing Green among others, focus on highlighting these hidden change-makers who are scattered throughout the world and providing various levels of resources to advance their initiatives.
