He went on to specialize in being a publicist for opera singers, helping shape and forward the careers of major stars like Lily Pons, Anna Moffo, Eleanor Steber, Jussi Björling, George London, Leonard Warren, Mirella Freni, Shirley Verrett, Cecilia Bartoli, Dolora Zajick, and Salvatore Licitra.
He was made CMG in 1888 and a year later succeeded Sir Edgar Vincent, 1st Viscount D'Abernon as financial advisor to the Khedive.
In 1920 the Viscount D'Abernon published The Eighteenth Decisive Battle of the World: Warsaw, 1920, in which he claimed that the next battle on the list was the battle of Warsaw, fought in 1920 by the Polish and Bolshevik forces during the Polish-Bolshevik War.
