Darryl Neilson

A character that fans "loved to hate", Darryl was introduced as the antagonistic son of receptionist Marj Neilson (Elizabeth McRae) and paramedic Tom Neilson (Adrian Keeling).

Darryl sacrificed his kidney for his dying father and desperately tried to separate his mother Marj (Elizabeth McRae) from her lover Laurie (Chic Littlewood) through blackmail.

Upon the show first airing, audiences struggled to relate to the character of Marj Neilson (Elizabeth McRae), a character played largely for comic relief.

Marj Brasch

Being part of the original cast, she was portrayed by Elizabeth McRae from the show's first season in 1992 up until 1996.

The Heater

Its music video starred Elizabeth McRae, well known at the time for playing Marjorie Brasch on the New Zealand soap opera Shortland Street.

However Tom soon learnt this was not the case and the true father was Tom and Marj's (Elizabeth McRae) manipulative other son, Darryl (Mark Ferguson).
