Elmer A. Sperry Award

The 1968 award was made to Christopher S. Cockerell and Richard Stanton-Jones for the design, construction and application of a family of commercially useful Hovercraft.

Edward J. Wasp received the award in 1981 "for his contributions toward the development and application of long distance pipeline slurry transport of coal and other finely divided solid materials".

Richard Stanton-Jones

In 1968 Richard Stanton-Jones won the Sperry Award along with Sir. Christopher Cockerell for "...for the design, construction and application of a family of commercially useful Hovercraft."

William R. Lucas

In 1986, Lucas was given the Elmer A. Sperry Award, an annual award in recognition of a distinguished engineering contribution which has advanced the art of transportation.
