Elzéar-Henri Juchereau Duchesnay (1809–1871), seigneur, lawyer and political figure in Canada East
Founded in 1855, it was named in tribute to Elzéar-Henri Juchereau Duchesnay, seigneur of neighbouring Sainte-Marie-de-la-Nouvelle-Beauce.

Elzéar Emmanuel Arène Abeille de Perrin ( 3 January 1843, Marseille – 9 October 1910, Marseille)
Despite her vow, at the age of twenty, she was married to Elzéar, Count of Sabran.
In 2007, Winnipeg City Councillor Dan Vandal led a drive for Winnipeg to establish an Elzéar Goulet Memorial Park near the spot where Goulet was killed.
In his youth, Elzéar was given a thorough training in the Christian faith as well as in the sciences under the supervision of his uncle, William of Sabran, at the Abbey of St. Victor in Marseille, where his uncle ruled as the Abbot.

Saint Elzéar of Sabran, T.O.S.F., Baron of Ansouis, Count of Ariano, was born in the castle of Saint-Jean-de-Robians, near Cabrières-d'Aigues in Provence, southern France, in 1285.
His brother Elzéar was a judge and also served in the legislative assembly.
She was born Esther Pariseau in Saint-Elzéar, Quebec, Canada.
The town that grew up around it took the name San Elizario, which is a corruption of San Elceario (Spanish for Saint Elzear); Saint Elzéar of Sabran is the Roman Catholic patron saint of soldiers.
