Richard de Villamil (1928) said that Rankine formulated the Science of Energetics in his paper Outlines of the Science of Energetics published in the Proceedings of the Philosophical Society of Glasgow in 1855.
These data were recently confirmed and extended by energetics experiments using Isothermal Titration Calorimetry and Multi-Angle Light Scattering.
They have one son, Robert, a senior scientist at the Laboratory of Laser Energetics at the University of Rochester in New York and one daughter, Pat, a sculptor who currently lives in Andover, Massachusetts.
