Boulez conducts three tracks ("The Perfect Stranger", "Naval Aviation in Art?" and "Dupree's Paradise"), recorded at IRCAM, Paris on January 10 and January 11, 1984, and performed by Boulez's Ensemble InterContemporain.
He has composed for a number of ensembles including Alter Ego, Asko Ensemble, Cambridge New Music Players, Court-circuit, Ensemble Accroche Note, Ensemble 13 and Ensemble Intercontemporain.
The latter work has been performed by the Ensemble InterContemporain, the Asko Ensemble and the Ensemble Modern, often under the direction of Oliver Knussen, a regular collaborator and continuing advocate of Anderson's music.
The piece has been recorded three times: in 1969 with Halina Łukomska singing the solo part and the BBC Symphony Orchestra accompanying; in 1981 with the same orchestra but Phyllis Bryn-Julson taking the solo part; and in 2000 with Christine Schäfer accompanied by the Ensemble InterContemporain.
