In 1223 Ermesinde and Waleran pressed their claim to Namur against Margrave Philip II, but were ultimately unsuccessful.
In 1109, Godfrey married Ermesinde (d. 1141), the daughter of Count Conrad I of Luxembourg and Clementia of Aquitaine.
It is the oldest magical event in Portugal, and is held in September in the municipality of Valongo, particularly the city of Ermesinde.
