Kaunas District Municipality has the second largest international airport in Lithuania (Kaunas International Airport), and is well connected by major roads (A1 highway and Via Baltica), as well as railways with other cities of Lithuania.
Małgorzata Górska galvanized a coalition of activists and organizations, including WWF Poland, the Polish Green Network and the Polish Society for Protection of Birds in the fight to stop a construction of Via Baltica Expressway directly through the Rospuda Valley and other environmentally significant areas.
