Prior to his career in film, Fechner was an artistic director for the French record label Disques Vogue.
Fechner participated in the social-democratic resistance group led by Franz Künstler, and was jailed in 1933–1934 and 1944–1945 by the Nazi regime.
In Chapter 7, James suggests that Weber, Fechner, Vierordt, and Wundt might be the greatest experimental psychophysiologists of the 19th century.
