In 2007, Kern, in coordination with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, founded the Niagara Power, a collegiate summer baseball team in the New York Collegiate Baseball League.
He retired from the FBI in 1962 to become a regional director of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and appeared frequently as a motivational speaker.
He is a member of Yorba Linda Friends Church and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
As a result of his trials, he has shown great interest in motivational speaking about overcoming trials through your faith for groups such as Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
