This latter aircraft was involved in a major accident on 30 April 1944 when loaded with munitions, it exploded on the runway at Bresso.
Its design and production were undertaken at the CMASA works in Pisa which became part of Fiat in 1930, hence the type is sometimes referred to as the CMASA G.8 or Fiat-CMASA G.8.
These aircraft served with 1° Gruppo/8° Stormo (Cervia-S.Giorgio) from 1970, and later, from 1974, they served with the 13° Gruppo/32° Stormo (Brindisi).
