British Polar Engines

The engine and company take their name from the engine supplied to Amundsen's Fram, from which he conquered the South Pole.

Cezar Petrescu

Notwithstanding his prolific output as a novelist, Petrescu is mostly remembered for his children's book Fram, ursul polar ("Fram, the Polar Bear"—the circus animal character was named after Fram, the ship used by Fridtjof Nansen on his expeditions).

Fredriksholm Fortress

At the fortress Fredriksholm stayed nearly a hundred Greenland dogs in anticipation of getting on board the Amundsen's ship Fram.

Raymond Priestley

Unable to find a suitable landing site, they decided to return West with the intention of landing at the Bay of Whales but arriving on 3 February 1911 they encountered Roald Amundsen's ship Fram and his expedition already camped there.

Chlorocardium rodiei

The Fram and the Endurance, made famous in the polar expeditions of Amundsen and Shackleton, were the two strongest wooden ships ever constructed and were sheathed in greenheart to prevent them from being crushed by ice.

Mike Gregorian

Gregorian grew up in Culver City, California where he played forward for the Fram club of Culver-Palisades which won the 1986 McGuire Cup (U-19 national championship).
