In Triumph of the Will, Leni Riefenstahl's 1935 propaganda film about the 1934 Nuremberg Rally, the final scene consists of a military parade through downtown Nuremberg, with Adolf Hitler shown receiving salutes from Nazi troops with the Nuremberg Frauenkirche in the background.
Examples include St. Martin's Church at Landshut and the Frauenkirche of Munich.
He is particularly active in Dresden, overseeing construction of the new Zionskirche and serving as Director of Construction for the rebuilding of the Frauenkirche from 1996 to 2005 and from 2001 to present as chairman of the Dresden Frauenkirche Foundation (Stiftung Frauenkirche Dresden).

He was granted the Großen Bundesverdienstkreuz on 7 September 2007, then made an OBE in November 2007 "in recognition of his contributions to the reconstruction of the Frauenkirche and his significant contribution to the reconciliation of the British and German peoples in this project".
One of his most memorable moments was the reconsecration of the rebuilt Frauenkirche in Dresden in October 2005.
The Romanesque towers are reminiscent of Freising Cathedral and, like the Frauenkirche at Munich, have copper "onion towers", which were added after a fire in 1561.
