The U.S. military hoped to develop a fully realized end product sometime in 2032, incorporating research from U.C. Berkeley's BLEEX exoskeleton project and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology's Institute for Soldier Nanotechnologies into a final design.
Started in 2002 with a $50 million grant from the U.S. Army, the Institute works with a corsotium of firms, including Raytheon, DuPont and Brigham and Women's Hospital, to develop new technologies in support of the Future Force Warrior system.
Recently, with the programs to modernize the Armies of the world, specialists in this field are more important then ever.
