The CBC formerly operated Galaxie, a digital television radio service which provides 45 channels of music programming to digital cable subscribers in both English and French.
The award, created in memory of Canadian country singer Colleen Peterson, is sponsored by the Ontario Arts Council and the Ontario Council of Folk Festivals (OCFF), and is presented to a songwriter selected from 15 nominations put forward by the OCFF's Songs from the Heart songwriting competition, excluding overall winners of the Galaxie Rising Stars Awards.

Dans une galaxie près de chez vous (English: In a galaxy near you) is a Quebec French language television series that aired on Canal Famille (later Vrak.TV) from 1998 to 2001, and a movie of the same name, released in 2004.
The Galaxie was the high volume counterpart to the Chevrolet Impala.
Currently, operations include The Karaoke Channel, a licensed karaoke supplier and an interactive television and Internet service; Stingray Music, a licensee and distributor of re-recorded music; Stingray360, a provider of copyright cleared subscription music services for the business environment; Concert TV, a video-on-demand television service; and Galaxie and Music Choice International, two digital pay TV audio services.
