Aleksander Kotsis - born 1836 in Ludwinów (now one of parts of Kraków), died 1877 in Podgórze (also a part of Kraków now)- was a Polish painter renowned for his landscapes, portraits and genre depictions of contemporary rustic scenes.
Emilio Cavenaghi, an Italian painter of landscapes and genre pieces, was born in Caravaggio in 1852.
Two of his genre scenes are held at the Tretyakov Gallery in Moscow; the above-mentioned portrait is in the Russian Museum now.
