Off the field Moss established the Moss & Miller sports shop with former England cricketer Geoff Miller.
Miller also ran Moss & Miller, a sporting goods emporium in Chesterfield, with Chesterfield F.C. footballer Ernie Moss, for a number of years.
Geoff Miller, England's chairman of selectors, said "Steven is a player of great potential who has been a consistent performer for his county and he will act as understudy to Matt Prior in South Africa".
