On September 15, 2005, Geoff Regan, Minister of Fisheries and Oceans Canada, said: "Search and rescue lifeboats, like this one, are key to our maritime search and rescue program. Their strategic placement along our coasts provides the highest level of protection for both commercial and recreational vessels."
Regan is the daughter of Carole (née Harrison) and former Nova Scotian premier Gerald Regan, sister of former federal Minister of Fisheries and Oceans Geoff Regan and Live at Five's Nancy Regan.
