Very little is known of the writer but what can be gleaned from various publications is that he was born in England, assumedly in the North East and possibly Sunderland area as the words of the song βThe Lambton Wormβ are from the βMackemβ dialect.
It is the tale of a loathsome (or in Geordie dialect, "laidly") giant monster, and was later modified by the Rev. Robert Lambe, Vicar of Norham and many other later writers.
As he grew older he also turned to songs and poetry, generally in a rich Geordie dialect.
