Astrild probably originated in the writings of the 17th-century Swedish poet Georg Stiernhielm, and has since been used in Nordic poetry, mainly during the Baroque and Rococo eras.
He grew up in the Bergslagen region where his father worked with the mining industry.
An early linguist and author was Georg Stiernhielm, who is today almost universally labelled "Father of Swedish Poetry".
