Another son, Lyndie, reached the semi-finals of the 100 metres and came fourth in the 100 metres relay at the 1964 Olympics and won a gold medal with Jamaican sprint relay teams in the Central American and Caribbean Games of 1966 and silver with the relay team at the Commonwealth Games of the same year.

Neither of Headley's parents was from Panama; his father was from Barbados and his mother from Jamaica, but they had moved to Panama while DeCourcey worked on the construction of the Panama Canal.
