German National Library

After the failure of the revolution the library was abandoned and the stock of books already in existence was stored at the Germanisches Nationalmuseum in Nuremberg.


Aufseß

Notable members of the family include Jobst Bernhard von und zu Aufsees, the founder of the Aufseesianum in Bamberg, Friedrich III von Aufseß, Prince-Bishop of Bamberg (1421–1431), and Hans von und zu Aufseß, who in 1852 was the principal founder of the Germanisches Nationalmuseum (formerly the "Germanischen Museums“) in Nuremberg.

Codex Aureus of Echternach

The Codex Aureus of Echternach (Codex aureus Epternacensis) (Nuremberg, Germanisches Nationalmuseum, Hs. 156142) is an 11th-century illuminated Gospel Book, created in the approximate period 1030 and 1050.

Master of the Housebook

A small number of paintings are also thought to be his work, notably the Pair of Lovers in Gotha, the Speyer Altarpiece (divided among Gemäldegalerie, Berlin, the Städel, Frankfurt, and Augustiner Museum Freiburg, and the Holy Family (Nuremberg, Germanisches Nationalmuseum, since 2004).
