In addition to recording the complete madrigals of Monteverdi (up to the 7th book), Delitiae Musicae completed the recording of the six books of madrigals of Gesualdo in 2013, and has made other recordings of works by Palestrina and Banchieri.

In 1485, Basilicata was the seat of plotters against King Ferdinand I of Naples, the so-called "Conspiracy of the Barons", which included the Sanseverino of Tricarico, the Caracciolo of Melfi, the Gesualdo of Caggiano, the Orsini Del Balzo of Altamura and Venosa and other anti-Aragonese families.
The film explores the music of Carlo Gesualdo and the legends surrounding Gesualdo's personality, his cursed castle, and his murder of his wife and her lover.
Deleting the references to Gesualdo, Sciarrino turned to a play, Il tradimento per l'onore, by Giacinto Andrea Cicognini, and also used an elegy of Claude Le Jeune, based on a text by Pierre de Ronsard.
There is a certain bias in the choir's repertoire towards music of the Renaissance and Baroque periods (Dufay, Ockeghem, Josquin des Prez, Firmin Lebel, Palestrina, Eccard, Byrd, Monteverdi, Gesualdo, Bach, ...).
