Institute (German for 'Good health!') is a project founded by Dr. Hunter "Patch" Adams in 1971, located outside of Hillsboro in Pocahontas County, West Virginia.

He was also chairman of an 1887 committee "to make preparations for an extensive and proper exhibit of interior products at the fair to be given this fall by the Mechanics' Institute."

Built in the nearby open area, named Emlyn Square after GWR director Viscount Emlyn (later kown as John Campbell, 1st Earl Cawdor), was the Mechanics Institute, paid for via subscription by the workers.
However, the first TUC meeting was not held until 1868 when the Manchester and Salford Trades Council convened the founding meeting in the Manchester Mechanics' Institute (on what is now Princess Street and was then David Street; the building is at no. 103).
