The plateau and its monuments have been recorded in the Giza Plateau Mapping Project run by Ancient Egypt Research Associates, directed by Dr. Mark Lehner.
Following the band's hiatus, he used a baby grand piano in 1976 and early 1977, switching exclusively to the Yamaha CP-70 electric grand piano in late 1977; the latter instrument's unwieldy tuning contributed to the shelving of the band's recordings of their 1978 engagement at the Giza Plateau.
His international team currently runs the Giza Plateau Mapping Project, excavating and mapping the ancient city of the builders of the Giza pyramid complex, which dates to the fourth dynasty of Egypt.
In particular, the aspects of the OCT which claim there is a link between the Ancient Egyptian structures at Giza and the constellations as they looked some 12,500 years ago are yet to find support from many within the field.
