During this period, they constructed several monuments within Gwalior fort, including the Cenotaph of Bhim Singh.

According to Cunningham and William Crooke, the city of Gohad was founded in 1505 by the Jats of Bamraulia village, who had been forced to leave Bamraulia by a satrap of Firuz Shah Tughluq.

Thus the Rana Jat rulers of Bamraulia gotra ruled Gohad for 300 years from 1505–1805 and after that they ruled at Dholpur.
Finally, in 1806, the territories of Dholpur, Badi and Rajakhera were handed over to the Maharaj Rana Kirat Singh of Gohad, in exchange for his state of Gohad, which was ceded to Marathas (Sindhia).
Maharaja Chhatra Singh had also constructed a palace, called Chhatrapur, on the hill top at Behat village which was used as a summer capital by the Gohad rana rulers.
Plundered of most of his treasures, placed on a lame elephant and expelled by Shuja-ud-Daula after he had been routed at the Battle of Buxar, 23 October 1764; he fled to Rohilkhand, Allahabad, Gohad and Jodhpur, eventually settling at Kotwal, near Delhi ca.
