Gomaco Corporation first branched out into the field of trolley manufacturing in 1982, when it was the successful bidder on a contract to supply two reproductions of "turn-of-the-century"-era trolleys/streetcars for operation on a new line due to be built at the Lowell National Historical Park, in Lowell, Massachusetts.
In March 2012, one of the ex-Lisbon cars, No. 519, was sent to the Gomaco Trolley Company, in Iowa, for restoration and re-gauging of its truck.
The final day of service is scheduled to be December 22, 2013, as a result of a decision by TriMet on December 11 to sell the two remaining Gomaco-built streetcars to a group planning a streetcar line in St. Louis, Missouri.
