As of 29th January, 2014 the UK government is considering switching from Microsoft Office products to open-source alternatives such as OpenOffice and Google Docs.

Some of the features of MyFax include the ability to send and receive faxes by email and through the internet, as well as send faxes directly from Microsoft Office, Microsoft Outlook, and Microsoft Windows-based applications including Google Docs, OpenOffice.org, and Intuit QuickBooks.
Opponents of the policy argue that this excuse only justifies the blocking of social networking sites and not sites with potential educational value such as YouTube and Google Docs.
