Starting in the mid-1990s, Gowlings methodically solidified a national platform through a succession of mergers with other law firms in Vancouver, Hamilton, Calgary, Montréal, Toronto and Kanata.
After retiring from the bench, LeSage practiced as Counsel at the law firm Gowlings, in Toronto.

The interdisciplinary curriculum, which incorporates engineering, science, technology, business and public policy, is taught by several distinguished industry members including Peter Love, the Ontario Power Authority’s former Chief Energy Conservation Officer; Dr. Dan McGillivray, who was the managing director at the Ontario Centres of Excellence prior to joining CUE; and Sean Conway, research fellow with CUE, policy advisor at Gowlings LLP and former Ontario cabinet minister.
