In summer 2004, the museum board terminated Munkenbeck+Marshall's involvement and hired architect Kulapat Yantrasast of wHY Architecture to complete the project.
Yantrasast's firm designed the Grand Rapids Art Museum, which opened in October 2007, the first new art museum building in the world to receive the LEED certification (Gold).
